Love Potions and Poor Life Choices
Ravena’s Story
Why are you just standing there? I need to get coffees for the entire crew,” Bjorn says, trying to push past his older brother, Koru. Moonlit Grounds Café and Bakery is a town institution. Everyone loves Ravena—her coffees and custom-blended teas, delectable pastries, her humor.
“I’m standing here, asshole, because the shop is locked up,” Koru growls at his brother, septum ring glinting in the early morning light.
Bjorn pauses to look at his brother, and then at the other folks gathered around, watching the Cragbeard brothers (hopefully wishing for a fight to start the day), and checking their watches. He scratches his head, then cups his hands around the glass window of the shop to peek in. Not a single light is on. Each table is neatly prepped, chairs in their places, mugs hanging on hooks, ready for the day. “Looks like Ravena isn’t here.”
Koru slow claps for his brother and rolls his eyes. “Great work, Sherlock.” Bjorn, always one to enjoy a joke, chuckles a bit and bows.
“That’s why they pay me the big bucks. She seemed really freaked out by the rogue wolf. Do you think she’s okay? I know she’s a witch, but witches can still get stitches, right?”
“She feeds the mountain wolves out of her hand. I doubt she is afraid of a rogue wolf. He was big though, according to Poppy. Do you want to break in to check on her?” Koru asks.
“Nope,” Bjorn says without hesitation. “I’m not interested in getting hexed today. Just coffee, please.”
“She’s not a witch. Quirky, sure. But not a witch. How many times do we have to argue this?”
The other folks, bored with the brothers by now, disperse, wondering if they’ll have time to run home and make coffee before work, or if they can handle whatever burnt coffee work makes. Eventually, it’s just the two orc brothers, each pondering how they ended up related to someone so thick-headed.
“Well, I can make coffee at the brewery, if you want to come over. We could even put it in a growler for you to take to work.”
“That sounds perfect. Brann will have a heart attack when he thinks I’ve brought a growler of beer to work!”
“We’ll swing back by tonight and see if she’s okay,” Koru says, getting into his truck.
When my fated mate rejected me, I lost everything—my magic, my home, my heart.
Now Luca—the maddening, gorgeous werewolf who left me to rot on this tiny magical island—has the audacity to walk into my coffee shop and ask for my help.
He wants me to go on a quest with him, to recover a treasure we stole years ago.
The catch? If we don’t, a very angry dragon is going to torch my entire town.
And as if that weren’t enough, said dragon has chained us together with a magical bond. Now Luca’s my werewolf on a leash and my fake date to my sister’s wedding. And I have to pretend we’re wildly in love.
He’s still charming. Still infuriating. Still mine—technically.
But I’ve spent years building a life without him. What will it take to forgive the wolf who shattered me?
And what if the biggest danger isn’t the dragon… but falling for him all over again?
Love Potions and Poor Life Choices is a swoony, steamy, magically chaotic paranormal romcom full of second chances, fake dating, forced proximity, fated mates, a werewolf groveling for forgiveness, and one witch who refuses to make the same mistake twice. (Probably.)
